Ana C. Frometa Borrayo
Violin
In 2002, Ana C. Frometa Borrayo began her elementary music studies at the Guillermo Tomás Conservatory. In 2007, she was among the winners of the José White Provincial Violin Competition. She completed her elementary level as one of the top graduates in the violin specialty under the tutelage of Professor María de losÁngeles Verdecia.
Ana continued her high school studies at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in 2010, joining the Conservatory Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Guido López Gavilán and Daiana García. In 2012, she was a finalist in the UNEAC Harold Gramatges Interpretation Contest. She graduated in 2014 under the instruction of Professor Iresi García Ciao.
While still in high school, she began collaborating with the Havana Chamber Orchestra, directed by Professor Daiana García Siverio, becoming a full member after graduation and remaining with the ensemble until 2020.
In 2016, she entered the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), studying under the renowned Professor Alfredo Muñoz Fernández.
Ana performed as a member of the Havana Lyceum Orchestra from 2014-2023 under the direction of maestros such as Ronald Zollman, Jorge Rotter, Thomas Hengelbrock, and the orchestra’s principal conductor José Antonio Méndez. She was selected on three occasions to participate in summer courses of the CuEProject in several German cities, receiving instruction from distinguished teachers and performing in prestigious venues such as the Konzerthaus in Wiesbaden and Berlin, under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock, who is also the founder and organizer of the project.
In 2020, Ana graduated from the Higher Institute of Art with a Gold Diploma, majoring in violin performance. She was also a member of the Café Quartet, which received an award in the Chamber Music category at the 2019 UNEAC Competition.
Ana has received violin and chamber music masterclasses from prominent teachers including Evelio Tieles, Francesco Manara, Vilmos Oláh, Diego Conti, Anna Melkonyan, Igor Karsko, Walter Reiter, Pablo de Pedro, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, among others.
She recently participated in two summer festivals in the United States — the Harvard Music Festival and Apple Hill Chamber Music — as a founding member of the Havana Quartet. Following these experiences, she was invited with the quartet to perform during the International Day of Music at Minnesota Orchestra Hall as part of CAYO (Cuban American Youth Orchestra).
Ana Caridad Frómeta is currently based in Minnesota, where she continues her artistic career with the Havana Quartet. She regularly performs in music venues across Minneapolis and Saint Paul, including Berlin, Crooners, and MetroNOME. In addition to concerts, she participates in educational exchanges and offers masterclasses in various schools. She is also a member of other musical projects such as Charanga Tropical and the MSC&O.
